A school district in Virginia has agreed to hand over $1.3 million after combating a discrimination lawsuit filed via a transgender pupil for more than five years in the past.
The American Civil Liberties Union announced Thursday that the Gloucester County School Board has been ordered to pay the money to cover legal professionals' prices and fees in the case involving onetime student Gavin Grimm, whom it represented.
The board said in a terse announcement that its coverage company has "addressed" the order. The board and the superintendent did now not right now reply to requests for comment Saturday.
The ACLU said in a assertion that the board, in a court filing, has agreed to pay.
